The 100 Day Project: Day Nine

Monday 26 February 2024

Hidey Hi!

I wasn't really sure what I wanted to do today, but as I was rescuing the sand pit lid from halfway down the garden (it's blowing a hooley here today), I saw all the periwinkle popping up along the fences and thought "that'll do."

I started with a brushing on a base of acrylic ink in Portrait Pink, Sap Green, and Sepia. I then applied some of the Sepia ink to the area in Portrait Pink with a bit of crumpled brown paper bag. I loved the texture that created! I dabbed on some Indian Yellow acrylic ink her and there with a brush, and then finished by adding the plant and flower details with soft pastels in Green Tea, Light Yellowish Green Field (try saying that two times fast!), Rose Grey, and Lilac Violet.

Although I wasn't thrilled with the finished piece, like I said, I did love the texture that brown paper bag created, and I'm really enjoying the Jackson's soft pastels, they're beautiful to lay down on the surface. I must remember to do a full pastel piece on some proper pastel paper. I do have a pad of it in the inevitable stash of sketchbooks and papers us art supply hoarders have.

I hope you enjoyed this latest installment of the project, back again tomorrow.
